He also has the family pets, but he considers them more 'everyone else's' as opposed to his own. Damien Stephen Weasley was the quite unplanned but very much welcome first son of Bill and Fleur Weasley. His birth was relatively normal, with the exception of being born during the worst war in the collective memory of most. From the get-go, Damien was spoiled completely rotten. As the first grandchild of Molly and Arthur Weasley, he was adored in exactly the way everyone had expected. And, though he didn't see his mother's parents as often, they loved their oldest grandchild as well and he found himself in a very strange place in a very large family. On the one hand, he really did never lack for anything he wanted. On the other hand, once he arrived into the world, a slew of siblings and cousins arrived after him. Though he may still have had his place as 'the oldest', it was soon overshadowed by the births of those who would come after him. In an effort to make up for his feeling lost in a very large crowd, Damien would often seek attention in unconventional ways. He'd sit silent for a week at a time, then babble nonstop to anyone who would listen the next week. One day he'd runaway, the next he would cling and follow his parents to no end. He even took to wandering off on his own, finding trees to hide in and wondering how long it would take for someone to notice he was missing. This was his personal favorite to do while at large family gatherings. He was usually found pretty quickly, and it never really gave him the attention he longed for. Bill worked a lot when Damien was a child, but once he figured out what it was Damien was attempting to do, he pulled him aside and promised him some one-on-one time. When asked what it was Damien wanted, the boy, six at the time, made himself perfectly clear. He wanted to be a rock star. While most just laughed the idea off, Bill got him his first guitar and Damien has been teaching himself to play with little professional instruction ever since. Once he had something that truly felt distinctly his, Damien became more even-tempered and less 'me first'. It was then that he began to truly step into his role as the oldest, living up to both of his parents places of being a protective older sibling. He kept Sabrina at the furthest distance, as she was a girl and into her own things. He'd still fight to the death for her if it came down to it. The boys were an interesting case in themselves, because Damien insisted he was to be their role model, even when they didn't want him to be. But it was baby Victoire who had Damien's heart and the little girl knew it. From the time she was old enough to ask for anything, Damien would make sure she had it. His baby sister was perfect as far as he was concerned, and no one, friend or foe, got too close without little Damien's permission. Even now that they're older, Damien still insists on being a role model. Which hasn't always been easy on him. There's a mischievous streak in Damien, just as there is in most of his family. He tended to get into scrapes with his best friend, Felicity Lupin, and she seemed to have a knack for pulling him into schemes. Though he was often the mastermind behind it, Felicity was, as he'd say, the true brains of the operation. Together, the pair got into a slew of mishaps, many which ended in the two of them sweet-talking or playing innocent to keep from getting into trouble. It was slightly traumatic for Damien, being sent off to school away from a family who, though large and often cramped, clearly loved him. Leaving behind his siblings was especially hard, as he felt like the caretaker for the lot of them. He wasn't alone, of course. He'd made friends throughout the community over the years, and of course, Felicity was along for the ride as well. But when Damien was sorted into Gryffindor and Felicity was made a Ravenclaw, Damien again felt like he was starting from scratch. It took him a bit to get on with all of the boys in his dorm and to feel like he truly belonged at Hogwarts. Eventually, though, he found his niche when one of his dormmates also played the guitar. One common interest led to several with various people, and Damien, even if not the most popular boy in school, found he was fitting in just fine. He made his way through school with little trouble. His marks weren't incredible, but they were fair enough to make his professors take notice. He even seemed to excel above most once he took Care of Magical Creatures. He liked dragons, he found phoenixes fascinating, and thestrals were amazing. But his real love became unicorns, and he even ended up doing several solo studies on the animals. It was that sort of diligent studying that put him ahead in most of his classes, and even caused him to found the Magical Creatures club. His efforts didn't go unnoticed--Damien will be made Gryffindor prefect when his school owl comes this year. Description: Damien, as so many fifteen year-olds are, is stuck in that awkward place between boy and young man. Though he still clings on to his family's approval, he also wants to be the leader of his 'pack', so to speak. He enjoys the sense of responsibility, but he hates taking the fall for his actions when they go wrong. More than anything, he wants to make Mum and Dad proud of him. Most of the time, he's pretty good about this. He helps out around the house when he's home from school, he owls his parents and his siblings often when he's not, and he works hard to get good marks in his classes. As a Weasley (and a Delacour, quite honestly) Damien not only has his sense of responsibility, but a sense of mischief. With that brings a knack for trouble, as well. He's constantly torn between tagging along with Felicity on her adventures, or staying behind and doing the right thing. Typically he follows along, convincing himself it's so that someone's there if something goes wrong. In truth, it's his love of the outdoors, his tendency to want to get out and about, and his devotion to his best friend. The love of animals keeps him exploring, the love of knowledge makes him realize that his exploring won't always be for the better. He tries hard, and is often knocked down for it, but he takes care of himself and those around him whenever he can. Being an eight-Veela shouldn't really mean much to Damien. He's male, after all, and it doesn't really matter at all to him whether or not he can make men swoon. He quite prefers girls, and hasn't exactly seen any proof that Veelas being boys causes the same effects in the opposite gender. It does, however, assist in his looks and his attitude. Occasionally, Damien can exhibit a bit of his mother's teenaged snobbery. It often takes a stern talking to from one parent or the other, or a good smack upside the head by one of his friends to make Damien come back down to earth where he belongs. In general, he's a good kid; he cares little about bloodlines, less about finances, and only minor interest in looks. Physically, Damien has his mother's colouring. He's all blonde hair and bright blue eyes. His complexion is somewhat fair, but this could easily come from his Weasley background as well. Too much time in the sun causes him to burn without carefully applied potions, but it's a sacrifice he's willing to make to run around outdoors and do his studying outside. In stature, though, he's the picture of his dad. Broad-shouldered, getting taller every day it seems, and round-faced, he strongly resembles pictures of Bill as a child, especially when said pictures are in black and white.
